steve crane bio

Born in Scarborough, Ontario, Steve Crane moved to the west coast of Canada at the age of 12 and has been a touring and recording musician playing extensively across North America and parts of Europe with various rock bands since graduating from North Delta Sr Secondary.

With deep experience in both analog and digital recording platforms, Steve has a highly-tuned ear for what works and what doesn't. Songwriting and recording credits include film and television, as well as rocking soundtracks for the popular Megarace video game trilogy. On many of his recordings he has played and programmed all instruments, engineered, produced, mixed and mastered.

At an early age Steve showed a natural talent for creative arts. While he has seen the most success with his musical songwriting and performing, he also loves to expand his skills and has created several stunning visual art pieces after trading a friend guitar lessons for painting lessons. You can find a few samples of his art here. He’s also an accomplished video editor, creating big screen projections as well as promotional videos and trailers.

Steve has been a familiar and beloved face with Trooper fans since 2009 and, when guitarist Brian Smith was scheduled to take some time off in 2017 for surgery, Steve had been the band’s trusted choice to fill in. So it was a “no-brainer” for the talented musician to permanently step into the lead guitar role with the blessing and encouragement of founding member Smith upon his retirement late in 2021.
